Studio no longer displayed in title view?

Player Version 1.67.1.3665-771934d3

I see it’s still there on the web app, but on the Windows desktop app, the Studio is no longer displayed.

Is this intentional? Hopefully not.

It seems to be. The genre also moved and now only allows you to show 2 genres before it shows a “more” button and its in a tiny font under the title. These changes make zero sense to me and ill be downgrading my windows client.

Edit: I downgraded to version 1.54.2.3267-d35cd36f as it was the only .exe I had saved on my PC. I refuse to upgrade until its back the way it is or is done in a more reasonable fashion.

still no explanation on why this data isn’t present, there’s open space for it to be there. Just… why?

Can we please get a reply from Plex on this?

Was this decision taken because you feel the current Studio metadata is not good enough? If yes, there’s already an easy suggestion to improve it here: Allow For Multiple Studios Separated by Commas

I have the same issue and I am just as baffled as other users. First I thought my library was messed up and I have rescanned it several times with various agents to “fix” it. I then came here to see if I could find any help and this (this thread) is what I found. What the ■■■■ is the Plex team doing?!

Was wondering why they remove this feature, but I notice that they remove the studios info in both web app and htpc version of plex.

Please bring the studio back. Or at least give me a reason for removing it that would make sense!

It is now even gone in the web app. This makes absolutely no sense. Does anyone know whether it is server or client related?

Could we get an official statement from Plex team why this was removed?

Hello! First of all, thanks for your patience. I’m not sure why we didn’t respond earlier. This thread seems to have two concerns, which I can try to dig into:

  • Studios Field - This was intentionally removed for a variety of reasons, including accuracy and consistency. While we have no current plans to revisit this, I’ll absolutely pass along your passionate feedback here.

  • Genre “More” Button - There is some active discussion of potentially changing the functionality here but I don’t have anything solid to report yet. Same as above though, the team is aware of user concerns in this area too.

This is most disappointing. I can hardly understand why removing a simple but yet useful feature like this would make any sense. If there is any chance I’d welcome this feature back in the future.

Can you say more around this ? What is inaccurate and not consistent ? TMDB has pretty good information when it comes to this metadata type. Regardless, even if it is indeed wrong we can just fix it as a community like any other metadata.

We can filter on studio so why not have it on the title screen ? IMO, studio should be extended in plex to include multiple studios as per feature request Allow For Multiple Studios Separated by Commas. This comment above is baffling to me.

Putting my tinfoil hat on, maybe the studios have requested plex to remove this as they don’t like to see their content filtered and called out on a plex server

This is incredibly disappointing as someone who has manually edited and verified the studio for every show in my anime library (thought the data has been mostly correct since the new agents). I really hope to reconsider because this was something I used regularly before it was removed and your justification honestly just doesn’t make any sense to me.

That’s what I said here, although on a totally different topic - profanity filter feature:

Adding to this, it looks to be clear that there will be more of a tug of war with the implementation of new features and or the deletion of them going forward. Why? Because quite frankly the money that’s being pumped into Plex by investors, that may already come from media conglomerates, will define what will and won’t be implemented. Unfortunately, that’s business and to be blunt, that’s always the fear of a company “selling out”, people using the power of their wallet, and the eventual decline of said product or service.

I am struggling to see the logic you used to determine there is any connection between media conglomerates and Plex removing Studio’s from showing under movies. As far as business practices go it would be an absurd one to implement from the media conglomerates’ side, you are saying those companies have said “We don’t want to be associated with our Oscar winning film, please stop telling people we won those hard fought awards!”

With regards to manipulation then as somebody I suspect has seen it then that would be on you to report it to tMDB and they should then check it out and take it up with repeat offenders.
