Stupid question - users on a TV

I’m sure this is a stupid question but I can’t find the answer anywhere!

I run a Plex server and some family and friends have logins. I live with my girlfriend and we (unsurprisingly) share a TV. We both use the Plex apps on our tablets and have different users. But I can’t work out how to add her as a separate user on the TV that will sync currently watched shows etc with her own account, I can only add a new TV only account which isn’t very useful if she wants to easily continue watching on her tablet what she has been watching on the TV or vice versa.

What I want is when we start Plex on the TV, it has login options for both me and her, and the shows/continue watching etc etc will sync with the users we have on our other devices.

Hopefully my problem makes sense and there is an easy fix!!

You need to add her in the Plex Web client as a user. Settings > Plex Home

Assuming you’ve done that, then she should show up when you select “Switch User” from the profile menu.

My god is it that simple. I thought I’d tried that before and it didn’t work.

Sure thing. Keep in mind, if she has her own “Plex.tv” account, that is not the same as using managed users in the Plex Home setting.

Having her own account would probably only be useful if she wanted to manage her own Plex Server.

Of she wants/needs to sign into the mobile apps on her own. of a another friend wants to share their server with her.
