Hello, from everything I’ve read there shouldn’t be much if any transcoding going on in my situation. I have trouble playing files over 1 gig, pretty sure it’s always mkv. I run the server on my mac (3.06 ghz core 2 duo) and I have the same problem if the file is located on my Nas (connected to mac via ethernet) or external drive (connected to mac via firewire). Mac is connected to AV Receiver via HDMI. There is plenty of room on all drives local and external. I’m not streaming anything to any other device at the time.
Thanks
With which client does it stutter? Plex Web, Plex Media Player, OpenPHT or…? All of them?
I mostly use Plex Home Theatre, I tested it on the IOS client and it still stuttered (though not as bad) but transcoding was expected in that situation.
Also to compound the problem… Some files sometimes have a hissing noise instead of audio, sometimes it’s fine. Other files don’t play all channels (like the center for dialog). Those problems are only on home theatre, not the IOS.
I tried it on the plex media player and everything seems to work fine there… (I just don’t like it), is there a way to adjust Home Theatre or is it no longer supported?
OpenPHT, the community fork of the old PHT, is alive and well. I suggest you head over there and create a new thread regarding the issue, now that you know it is contained to that app.
Ok thanks, I didn’t realize that’s what Open PHT was.
