I have recently brought a WinTV-quadHD card, which is running on Plex 1.9.3 on Windows 10. I live in the UK.
Everything is working great, apart from the fact that I have noticed a constant stutter, or jitter every 4 seconds or so, while watching recordings or live TV on the Apple TV4. The picture quality is very good, no break up at all, but every 4 seconds or so, you get a slight jitter. It’s most noticeable on moving titles, or moving text across the bottom of the screen.
I don’t think it’s got anything to do do with the card or the signal (which is at 100%), as when I play either live TV or the same recordings back on my three other devices (Samsung KS800 TV - Plex App, iPad Air2 or iPhone 7), the picture is 100% perfect! You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference from the original broadcast. Great quality and very smooth.
It’s only on the Apple TV that you get the slight jitter. It’s not so bad that you can’t watch it, but once you notice it, it’s quite distracting.
The TV and the Apple TV’s are all networked - no WiFi is used.
I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem? I have changed the setting on the tuner card to turn Plex Transcoding on and off while it’s recording, but it’s the same on both settings. I have also tried all the play back settings on the Apple TV, but nothing seems to make any difference.
Hopefully this issue will be solved in a further update, as I think that this DVR and Live TV is brilliant. I know that there are a few bugs that need looking at, but so far, it hasn’t missed any recordings. Really excited about what the future will bring.
