I guess this is kind of a bug report but I’m curious as to whether anyone else has noticed this.
Server Version#: 4.108.0
Player Version#: Roku TV 55s517 sw 12.0 0 build 4128-30
channel info(?): 7.6.1.8501-67117911f-Plex
I save PlayOn Cloud recordings to my Plex library. For many of the streaming services PlayOn records, the MP4 file captures both English and Spanish subtitles as mov_text:
Stream #0:10x2: Subtitle: mov_text (tx3g / 0x67337874), 0 kb/s (default)
Metadata:
handler_name : SubtitleHandler
Stream #0:20x3: Subtitle: mov_text (tx3g / 0x67337874), 0 kb/s
Metadata:
handler_name : SubtitleHandler
When watching PlayOn videos that have both Eng and Spa subs over the Roku Plex channel, I’ve noticed that rewinding often results in the subtitles having switched from Eng to Spa when I resume play.
I use the <<, < (for preview tiles) and jump back button pretty equally. I’m thinking maybe one of the buttons (or even a different button accidentally pressed during rewind/play) might be causing it.
My workaround is checking PlayOn downloads with ffprobe to see if they have an extra language sub and running them through a script to strip out the default subs and recombine them with the audio and video into a new file without reencoding before placing the files in PMS library folders. Most of the time it works fine, occasionally it ends up with a timing glitch not present in the original video, but mostly it’s annoying and time consuming.
Anyone else notice this, with PlayOn or other multi-subtitle files?
