Plex on Roku is not automatically switching between forced (signs/songs) and full subtitles.
Steps to reproduce: Load up media with the following tracks – audio(eng), audio(jpn) sub(eng, forced) sub(eng). Switch from the English audio track to Japanese. Plex continues playing the forced (signs/songs) sub track instead of dialog.
Expected behavior: Plex defaults to playing the media with the english audio track and english forced subtitle track. When selecting foreign audio Plex automatically switches from the forced sub track to the dialog sub track.
The expected behavior happens on other players such as Web, iPad and Plex for Mac. I have a suspicion that this is happening because Plex Roku is not correctly displaying Japanese characters in the interface. On Plex web my audio streams are labeled as English (AAC Stereo), 日本語 (AAC Stereo). But on Roku the Japanese audio stream is simply labeled as (AAC Stereo). I believe that since it doesn’t know that the track is foreign audio, it is not switching over to the dialog subs.
