I have a Mac that i use as my server for PLex. I have several movies in my media folder. Some have forced subtitles. All the movies play fine in iTunes. But when I play the files in the PLex app (either web, roku or iphone) the subtitles are out of sync by 15-30 seconds. My movies are mp4 or m4v format. I use iflicks2 to get the metadata and burn in subtitles (srt) for movies with foreign languages and load into itunes. Plex picks them up from there… Any ideas?
I have exactly the same issue. Kind of dissapointing 
I have been having the same issue with last two Plex Pass releases (currently Version 1.11.1.4760).
I run PMS on macOS 10.12.6, media are .mkv with embedded .srt. All subtitles are delayed about 5-6 seconds on all my clients so seems like a PMS issue.
Hope it gets fixed before too long!

I can repro with yoru MovTEXT subtitles embedded in your m4v. but all seem fine when i extracted it and had is as a external SRT.
@arntson and @hsalazar are your files also with embedded subtitles?

Still need to find out why it is doing it. I don’t have a solution for you right now. It may just be a bug in server that needs to be fixed. still testing things. Just wanted to acknowledge the issue

BigWheel, yes all subs are embedded .srt into .mkv files.
The subs are perfectly in sync playing back with VLC. Still 4-5 seconds delayed when played back using latest PMS (v 1.12.0.4829) to iOS devices. NO LONGER DELAYED to AppleTV nor web client. No longer delayed after syncing to iOS device (v 4.25), only playing back from PMS.

I did notice mine are delayed but not necessarily by a fixed amount of seconds. When I start a movie, the first subs start to play even if they are an hour into the movie. I guess for a better term premature instead of delayed. Thanks!!
@BigWheel I notice my iphone and apple TV appear to be working properly. Seems to be just the PMS. Any updates? Thanks!!

So glad I paid money to NOT be able to watch movies with subtitles. Well over a month and no updates!!! I will not be renewing my subscription. One response and that was it to acknowledge the problem, but never any updates on a fix or what the status is… Customer service lacks, to say the least…
It can be really frustrating to wait for fixes. I like to watch a lot a media with subtitles too,
The issue seems to have improved but it is still definitely there.
Synced media seems to have no problem for me,
I hope it gets fixed soon too, and I hope you end up staying with Plex.
