Subtitles/Captions not displaying

Since a couple of last Plex Preview for Roku updates, I have strange issues with playing subtitles or captions. Closed Captions will not play at all any more and subtitles will be only displayed once I restart Roku. After a show is finished playing and I wan to watch another one, subtitles no longer display Restarting Roku will bring them back but I would have to do this every single time.

Also, when I update my Plex server with the latest updated, unless I restart Roku, video and audio are getting out of sync. Not much but enough to notice. Initially I thought it was ‘mkv’ container issue but when it happened to ‘mp4’ I knew it was the Plex Roku client software. After restarting Roku, the ‘out of sync’ issue disappears (until next server upgrade).

Guys, what’s going here?

I think I just found the regression in our preview channel. Subtitles won’t be displayed properly if you have selected them in the player when you started playback without subtitles. We should have an update soon to hopefully fix the issue. Thanks for the report!

@bmynars we just published a fix for the issue. Please force an update on the Roku and give that version a try. You can verify the version in the Plex settings. It should be listed as 6.7.21.7002-7891c473c
