Subtitles Error make Plex fail to play video correctly

hi, everyone
I’m using Plex troughth Nvida Shield tv Pro, I have HDD with movies in 4k connected to my pc, If i play the file on the plex App for Windows I have no issue, but If i play on the shield tv this happen:

  • If in the converter tab , the voice " disable video stream transcoding" is off, the video is not play correctly and give me the message : your server is not powerful enough to play this video smoothly.

  • If " disable video stream transcoding" is enable; instead the video is playing correctly but soon I select the subtitles the player stop and give me this message : Playback was not possible: not enough CPU for conversion of this item.

The odd thing is that it gives me this issue only if I select *ASS subtitles type instead no problem with the *SRT type!

Both the PC and SHild tv PRo are connected directly trought Ethernet.

Thanks in advance for the help

Could be that the ASS subtitle is using an effect that the Nvidia Shield player cannot handle. If this happens, Plex must burn the subtitle into the video, which triggers a transcode. You have specified on the shield that you do not want a video to be transcoded, so the video fails to play.

The problem here is the generic error message that “not enough CPU for conversion” pops up if you prevent a transcode but a transcode is necessary.

Edit: Hmm, somehow I seem to have mis-read the post. I explained the second bullet point, but at this point I do not see why the video will fail to play if you enable transcoding. The server is on the Shield, and you are attempting to play this on the Plex-for-Windows app? 4K videos - especially HDR - can be pretty tricky to use. Maybe someone with more experience with 4K can figure out why a Shield cannot serve up a 4K vid to a Windows client.
