Subtitles located off screen in zoom mode ios

When using display option « zoom » (to remove black bars when source media is wrong aspect ratio for device) and also using subtitles, those will be located off screen.

Expected behavior: Subtitles location should be calculated using absolute device screen coordinates and NOT using source media video format as this can result in subtitles being located off-screen

try using .srt subtitles

As mentioned above, check what type of subtitles you’re using.

ASS/SSA subtitles are normally formatted to show in a specific area in the video frame, if you change the aspect ratio that crops out parts of the video you will lose visibility of the subtitles in that area too.

I’m running into the same issue on a 12.9" iPad Pro. When I zoom a video, the subtitles get cut off. Only the top part of the subtitle is visible. This happens with ASS/SSA and SRT subtitles.

It is a known issue we have a bug report for. sorry i do not have an ETA for fix.
