Recently I’ve been getting into watching foreign TV shows, but since I don’t know the language I use English subtitles. I manually download the subtitles for these shows since they don’t come embedded. Following the Plex’s guide, I rename all of the .srt files to .eng.ext. I also went into my options and set my audio and subtitle preferences to English as well as auto show subtitles with foreign audio. I’d like the English subtitles included to be automatically selected when viewing this content, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Unfortunately the audio tracks are labeled as Unknown language, so I fear that that may be causing some issue, however I’ve seen posts on the forum when searching about the issue that describe an issue that I desire (that subtitles automatically play on unknown audio). Can anyone help me reach this desired outcome? Thanks in advance.
To be clear, an unknown language is basically missing the language tag, so these are treated as your default language, not a foreign language.
People may not set the language tags properly when encoding their videos, so this prevents unnecessary subtitles that could lead to unnecessary transcodes.

Additionally, is is possible to install a plugin that changes this on a library level?
