Subtitles not working properly since 1.41.1.9057 update

Can we resurrect this? I did revert to 1.40.4.8679-424562606 last year and the subtitles started working properly again, but I was forced to upgrade to 1.42.2.10156 because the older version was not compatible with my IOS app any longer. The latest version still has issues with subtitles (embedded in the MKV files) being out of sync and repeating constantly as the movie continues.

This occurs in both the Roku application as well as when I watch media using a browser, such as Chrome.

Server Version#: 1.41.1.9057
Player Version#: Roku / Multiple Versions

I updated my Plex server to version 1.41.1.9057 a few days ago. Since then, the subtitles have been wonky…as the videos play, current subtitles are mixed in with repeated text from previous subtitles earlier in in the episode. This happens for every video I’ve tried.

My video files are typically .mkv files with multiple caption streams built-into the files…no external SRT files or anything like that.

This behavior didn’t occur prior to the upgrade. It happens on various Roku devices (Roku 3s, Roku 4s, TCL Roku TV, etc.) and also happens when I stream to various Windows PCs.

When playing the .mkv files directly in VLC and choosing from the various captions that are available, all is fine.

I was thinking about rolling back to the previous version of Plex, but I was hoping for a suggestion for a fix here before I do that.

Thanks!

Replying to myself…

I was optimistic that the latest release (1.41.2.9200) might have fixed the issue, as the release notes specifically mentioned subtitles (although not my specific issue with embedded subtitle tracks). Turns out it had no effect on my problem.

I’ve rolled back two versions and my problem is resolved. I might apply future updates if the notes reflect my issue, but for now I’ll live with the older, functioning version.

What version did you revert to? I’m experiencing similar issues but can’t recall for sure when it started or what version upgrade broke it.
