Playing a file (e.g. h.264, HEVC…) which requires only audio transcoding and not video (e.g. dca => aac) results in subtitles out of sync. Usually they are displayed earlier 1-2-3 seconds. But might happen that they are delayed for seconds.
Mostly happens when fast forwarding or rewinding and even pausing and resuming.
When Direct Playing the same file but with different audio stream which does not require transcoding (e.g. AC3) - subs are in sync.
I know there have been other threads back from 2017 but it seems this is still an issue.
Since most of the movies are with audio that Samsung TVs cannot handle or passthrough we have Direct Stream which then introduces subtitles desync…
Note: My subtitles are in perfect sync and this can be confirmed by desktop players like PotPlayer, VLC etc. Also Emby for Samsung TV and Emby for Android TV is handling them properly without ANY desync.
I hope this post will not be the next one to be locked after three months as I already regret my recent Lifetime Pass purchase…
