Server Version#: 1.41.3.9276
Player Version#: 4.141.0
After the latest update (which may be a beta, unsure) there are certain media files that just won’t play. The web player shows it attempting to play and just spins, and roku & google 4k streamer have similar reactions. Other media plays just fine, so I don’t know if it’s a codec issue that was suddenly introduced with this patch? Happy to provide logs if that will help, but I want to make sure to provide what’s necessary.
Were you able to correct this issue and how? I’m having the same issue with all my mpeg2 since the update.
May I please have the Server DEBUG logs ZIP file (the one you get from Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs) , captured right after a playback attempt ?
This will let me see what’s happening
I have attached the logs.

You might try turning off Use hardware acceleration when available in your settings and see if that fixes it.
This is running on Windows, not Synology (Linux)

I cannot be of any assistance here, sorry
I was able to find a solution for my problem, found it on a 3+ year old reddit post. I stopped the service, deleted the “PlexMediaServer\AppData\Plex Media Server\Codecs” folder, then restarted it again. Everything works now.
I don’t know what caused it, though, and it’s clearly something that’s been around long enough for me to find it on an old board somewhere else.
+1 for “You might try turning off Use hardware acceleration when available in your settings and see if that fixes it.” suggested by @dbirch. This broke for me recently on Windows 10 on an older Thinkpad W530 that has an onboard Nvidia GPU. The other way that I was able to fix this on a video-by-video basis was to enable MPEG2 playback. I just updated to Version 4.143.0 a week or so ago and that is when the problem started. This is a new bug and 100% reproducible for me and 100% fixed by disabling hardware acceleration.
This fixed the same issue for me. Thank you very much for posting it!
Thanks, that worked for me. Had the same issue with Roku player.
Also for me noticed several issues when attempting to stream from outside home network. And was not even affecting all media but only a couple of shows and movies. Couldn’t find a pattern. Anyhow. This solved it.
