Hello all,
In the last few days I’ve been having strange issues with Plex, that seems to manifest differently depending on the device, and that only occurs on content recently added to the library. I’ll go through each of the issues in a second, but at the root of the problem seems to be that the metadata for these new movies is not being correctly read by Plex - all 3 show ‘Video: None’ and ‘Audio:None’. Each of these newer movies shows correct metadata when loaded into MediaInfo and each is able to be played without issue on the local machine using VLC.
I’ll focus on 3 movies for the sake of troubleshooting, and here are the details of each, though i don’t believe the root issue has anything to do with codecs. All of them are relatively similar but other movies of the exact same types (which i imported a longer time ago) are able to play fine.
Movie #1: DoVi/HDR HEVC - TrueHD/Dolby Atmos 7.1
Movie #2: DoVi/HDR HEVC - TrueHD/Dolby Atmos 7.1
Movie #3: HDR HEVC - TrueHD/Dolby Atmos 7.1
Here are the playback issues, on each device, focusing on these 3 movies:
Plex for Windows (app): All 3 movies give this immediate popup error, and fail to play.
An unknown error occurred (4294967283)
Error code: 4294967283
Plex on browser (firefox): All 3 movies give the same error as above.
Plex for iPhone: All 3 movies show as 'unavailable ’ and are unable to be played.
Plex for Chromcast (GoogleTV): This is where we see some differences
- Movie #1: Shows no metadata, but plays video with NO audio.
- Movie #2: Shows no metadata, but plays video with NO audio.
- Movie #3: Shows no metadata, but plays both video and audio fine.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far for troubleshooting:
- Restarting PMS.
- Re-analyze these video files. When doing this, the analyzer appears to a) do nothing and b) continues to spin (suggesting it’s endlessly analyzing) for an indefinite amount of time. Audio and Video metadata is still not shown.
- Rolling back db to previous version (com.plexapp.plugins.library.db). This of course gave me a snapshot of what my library looked like a few days ago, but upon rescanning and pulling the new movies into the library, the issue persists with those movies.
- Repairing db. Though no corruption showed in logs, I ran a check on the db and the result was ‘ok’. For good measure i rebuilt the DB structure but this also did not solve the issue.
- Completely removing/re-adding library. When doing this, most if not all media had the exact same issues as the newly added 3 movies - all showed “Video: None” and “Audio: None”, and playback was sporadic.
- Checked that the path to the media listed on Plex is accurate - it is.
- Rolling-back PMS to a previous version - this had no effect.
Anyways, not entirely sure where to go from here. I’ll of course attach some logs down below - one notable line i do see is what i assume is happening when i attempt to play one of these 3 movies:
May 12, 2023 09:41:09.309 [10268] ERROR - [Req#488/Transcode] MDE: video has neither a video stream nor an audio stream
Thanks in advance!
