Moved library to new hardware, New media won't play

Server Version#: 1.41.2.9200-c6bbc1b53
Player Version#: Various

Last week I moved my Plex library over to new hardware. Transition was a little rocky as I was going from virtualization under TrueNAS to virtualization under ProxMox, but I got everything all set up and working well. Until I tried to add some new media. Nothing I add will play from any client I have. On Plex for Mac I get this “An unknown error occurred (4294967283)” Strangely the error disappears after half a second and it tries again. Nothing much helpful related to that error after some searching. On the iPadOS and AppleTV clients, the detail page for the file is really slow to load and then I get an error that “A playback session could not be started”. Looking at the logs, the main difference I see is that when playing new media it’s kicking off an on-the-fly analysis, which then gets killed immediately. No indication as to why, nor to why it’s trying to analyze in the first place. Forcing a regular analyze of the file doesn’t change anything. Permissions are fine, everything is owned by the plex user and I verified that plex can actually read the files in a shell. I tried setting up as a completely fresh install and adding new media works fine there, so my setup itself seems OK and I assume it’s something related to my existing library. Also tried restoring from a recent DB backup, but no dice there either. I’m really stumped with this one. Anyone have any idea?

Unfortunately , we cannot diagnose from snippets which show no hard errors.

What would be most helpful:

  1. Restart Plex
  2. Start a playback which fails.
  3. Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
  4. Attach the ZIP file it gives you here so we can see the entire sequence.

Just realized that the watch status of media is stored in the cloud now, which is a nice change from last time I had to rebuild my library metadata. I don’t really care about anything else other than watched status, so I’ll just run with the new library. Not worth figuring out the issue with the old one.
