Suddenly no remote access

Server Version#: 1.40.2.8395
Player Version#: Any app (Shield, android, etc and web through plex.tv), but not web using local IP

My plex server has been running great for several years. Running on a proxmox VM. Today, I suddenly couldn’t see any of my media from my Shield. Checked a web app, ditto. Restarted the VM, no change. Tried the local IP address, and everything shows up (also checked to make sure the IP address didn’t change). So that tells me VM is OK, and it at least has access to my media. When logged in to local IP address, under Settings > Remote Access, it often says “Not available…”, and when I click the “recheck” button, still says “not available”. So definitely something is up with the remote access. I have 32400 forwarded through my router (Opnsense) and I can see the port 32400 traffic is being passed through the firewall when I click the recheck button. I also have a reverse proxy set up that I can use for troubleshooting, and that works too, but obviously that is different than using the app.plex.tv.

What else should I check??

Summary: I can’t reach my media through anything that takes a regular plex login, like most plex apps. Web client works when using local IP address, but not when accessing through plex.tv. Basically, no remote access.

I might be getting somewhere. I am seeing a bunch of these in my log when I try to log in via plex.tv

I think I saw that someone else was having cert problems.

But their server was on the shield. I am using a Shield for the client. My server is on a proxmox lxc, so maybe they aren’t the same thing.

@MrGibbage

  1. You apparently do not have an IPv6 LAN.
  2. If you confirm you do not, turn off IPv6 support in Settings - Server - Network - Show Advanced.
  3. Make certain the host also does not have IPv6 enabled.

Thanks so much for responding!!!

I do not have an IPv6 LAN. I did have IPv6 enabled on my Plex server (no idea why…), so I disabled that. I saved the settings, restarted the container, then logged back in using the local IP address. It still said remote access was disabled, so I clicked “Retry”, and it still says disabled.

For the client right now, I’m just using my laptop and web clients and IPv6 is diabled on this as well.

I sure hope you have some other ideas

I have the same issue. Everything just stopped…
I have tried all the router, plex update etc reccomendations but not working.

Updated logs below. Essentially no difference from before.

just getting home from E.D. Will be back in office tomorrow ; light duty

I fixed it! I had to reclaim my plex server. I logged in locally, then went to the settings and then authorized devices. I the deleted my server, and then went to general and reclaimed it. Then I went to Remote Access and rechecked and it worked. I then had to go in to Plex Home settings to fix the authorized media sources for all of my managed users. Sounds like a lot of work, but it only takes a minute or two. I probably restarted the server once or twice during all of that, but that is basically it.
