There is a good thread about dealing with concert video to make them movies with chapters rather than separate tracks, but I see some pros and cons for doing this vs keeping them track files.
For one, identifying concert video separate from Movies is in itself a value, but there would be a great boon if both methods were supported. Concert movies that are one movie with chapters could be files like Movies are, which those with separate tracks could be stored like Music. In both cases, there would be a folder for Artist like in Music but for concerts with multiple tracks, the Album would be a folder with tracks in it where a single movie file that is that way because it being commercial would just have the Album be a file. If there was some way to make a playlist from both chapters is rather than single video tracks or sounds like it could be a lot of work but I don’t know. This seems like the pro and con thing I mentioned.
I am assuming most users use FileBot for making their files adhere to Plex naming standards and I suggested to that they be able to tie into using ** MKVToolNix** to make this config changes, but I suppose with some significant work Plex could too, but I think it would be redundant if individual tracks were treated like Music tracks on an Album where they play continuously.
I think this is one of those things you’d have to start simply by making the Category first and recognize both single moves as well as individual tracks. Anything else you can decide for yourselves- depending on the work needed or if it is a popular feature or not. I guess this is something you’d have to find out in the way that makes the most sense for devs. I would contribute myself if I just were a better programmer.
One other consideration is other media types, that you might want to over generalize. For instance, using a standard category for Adult so that FileBot could accommodate for it since things like “scenes” are a common part of the format. Now you can surely make your own folder, but to have the automated features for organizing things in the manner that makes the most sense fo the specific media is always welcome. I suppose this opens the can of worms for all kinds of formats, but if that were to be asked for a lot, maybe having a way to make your rules for custom folders where even Filebot users can make their own formats manually (as long as it abides by Plex naming enough.)
I realize this is a lot for one request, but the stuff beyond live concerts was more just to paint a larger picture. Even if you could implement a small part of this where file structure was conditional on singe concert videos or broken by tracks would be huge step.
