Problem: http links are created to get local thumbs
What:
1- to use nfo importer to populate movie metadata
2- have Plex load actors images from a local server folder for each movie
Why:
1- actor thumbs by movie is better because actors get older and it is weird to see an old actor in the role of a child.
2- local image instead of link is better because links can change and would not point to the right image or image at all. (404 error)
3- If links are dead and metadata is refreshed, image is lost.
How:
1- Read nfo.
If there is an actor, use the image from /.actors folder and cache it to plexserver. If there is not a image, try the link from the nfo and cache image to plexserver. If there is no link or it is a 404 do nothing.
Don’ts:
1- do not use http link to local image as synology will need to have a webserver installed
In summary, just do it like it is done for posters and fanarts.
