Suggestion: See whats playing

It would be great if you could see what your friends are playing from the iOS app instead of logging into the server

Give Plexpy a go, it’s not part of the official Plex ios app, rather a 3rd party tool but it’s awesome

i have that, but i am looking for something to check from my ios device
without having to connect to the PMS server.

For PlexPy i would still need to go to my server or a computer.

No, you could bookmark your PlexPy page on your device and then just open the bookmark. You will need to forward the port on your router to get outside access, though. There are tutorials for this on the web. The only thing you’re going to need is the manual for your router and a one time log in into it’s web app.

And with PlexPy you can set up notifications and get texted/emailed every time someone starts, stops or pauses a movie or TV show. (PushBullet works great for this, if you have made an account for it already.) The biggest advantage to PlexPy is the historical information it tracks. 6 months ago who was watching what, etc… (As long as you have had PlexPy running for at least that long.)

There does need to be better visibility of who, what, where from and how long, etc. someone is watching media. But doing it just for iOS devices when they represent such a small corner of the Plex ecosystem is shortsighted. If they implement something it needs to be for all devices.

Just because an iOS device is your favorite flavor of client doesn’t mean it’s everyone’s.

Thanks Mike

I will try PlexPy like that for now.

Yeah i know what you mean about the flavour, i was just trying to show an example of what i meant.
