One thing I would like to see is a prompt to help avoid accidental skipping of episodes in a series when someone is a bit behind what is broadcast. For example, I’ve seen this happen:
Joe had started watching Show X a while back, and has played episodes 1 through 3. Yesterday episode 6 got recorded and added to Plex. On the home screen the On Deck list has no poster for Show X because other shows were played more recently (it could be found on the full On Deck list, if Joe were to go there). There is, however, a nice poster in plain sight in the Recently Added list, enticing Joe to use it. When Joe hits play on episode 6, episodes 4 & 5 get silently skipped, and the On Deck list does not recommend watching episode 4 any more. As the season progresses, Joe doesn’t even realize that 2 episodes were omitted.
What I’d like to see is this: when a play request happens in the Recently Added list for an episode that is not the On Deck episode (or the 1st episode of a show that is totally unwatched), a pop-up appears asking the user: “Did you mean to skip 2 episodes? [Yes - play episode 6] [No - play episode 4]”
This change would make all the posters on the home screen safe to use without fear. For me I tend to avoid using the Recently Added posters unless I’m 100% certain I’m caught-up on a series (which often means using a lot more key presses to go find the show in On Deck).
The pop-up would NOT appear in other contexts, such as someone browsing through the seasons & episodes of a show and directly choosing what episode they want to watch.
