[Suggestion] Use UserVoice or similar for bug reports and feature requests

The Plex forums are quite messy at the moment. There are a mix of feature requests, bug reports, general discussions, and gripes about paying anything for Plex.

I would suggest migrating bug reports and feature requests to UserVoice, or a similar tool designed for managing bugs and feature requests. They have a much better UI for this than a forum, which is designed to host general discussion. For example, people can vote for bugs, and receive notifications from devs when things are updated.

I think this will allow the devs to see the most problematic bugs and requested features. It will also open the lines of communication to users affected by bugs easier as they can get updates. Lastly, it will free the forums up for general discussions.

Hopefully this could lift the general tone of discussion, and add to the goodwill of the Plex team.

I forgot that this could also integrate with support documents, so instead of people filing bugs/requests, they can find the docs they need to solve their problem.

This 2015 post strikes me as an excellent idea. Uservoice would allow Plex to see what features existing and potential customers are most interested in. As things stand, I’m not sure how Plex decides where to focus its development effort.
