The Plex Forum Needs Better Notifications about Developer Intent

I like Plex and I like these forums but I feel like a broken record on here (and I know I am not the only one) with some issues that have been left for YEARS with no word on what is happening.

I realize Plex is very complex especially since it works on a vast number of hardware and OSs. While it would be nice if someone replied to each bug or feature request about what is or is not being done about it I realize this is not practical.

What I suggest you do is create some sort of separate Developer Group and Group Status Tagging for the forum that Plex users can see which shows that someone is listening and following up.

The Group Forum feature comes into play since the same bugs and feature requests have been mentioned multiple times on the forum in part because no one is sure if anyone is listening and the older requests get buried. Once a request has been read by someone at plex the same/similar bugs/features should be grouped together so not only us Plex users can see the relation but the developers also can. The Groups can be named after the bug or feature request. Developers could also then add a link to these groups to your own private internal bug/feature tracking system making a clear line for the Developers to what the user is requesting or having problems with and the discussion that follows.

These Groups could then also have Status tags that would give updated information to us Plex users showing currently what is being done with the group. For example some statuses could be:

Read

Confirmed

Declined

Investigating

Delayed

Fixed (Closed)

Unfixable (Closed)

Each Group should also have a main thread (pic one of the forum topics if more than one) that the users and developers could use to discuss the issue and provide additional information.

Thanks

Tom

I’ve moved this to the forum feedback section as it’s not so much a feature suggestion for Plex itself but on how you want the forum to work / to be improved.
