A couple simple suggestions to improve the experience:
- Add a button to the movies (similar to "add to playlist) that would allow us to put them “On Deck”.
Why? It is nice to browse movies from the collection and tag those we want to watch in the near future. I currently do this with a playlist… but it is a hokey way of doing it. OnDeck already does this automatically for new TV series episodes that we are watching and were added to the library, and it is a very natural way of managing our near future “to watch” queue.
- Automatically add any newly added episodes for TV series we are watching to “On Deck”. This currently works well for the “current season”, but it usually does not work when a new season starts and we manually have to go into Browse/TVShows and start viewing the new season in order to kick-start the automatic process.

I think this is because you have the OnDeck set to 16 Weeks(the default). I too don’t like this because there are some shows start well after 16weeks after the last season ends.

Are the settings in your screenshot “server” settings? I don’t see those options in my iOS player.
Maybe we need “Weeks to consider for On Deck” to be moved to the player?
Even though it there might be technical reasons that make it easier as a server setting, the choice is conceptually much better associated to the individual users/accounts/clients.
I set weeks to consider for On Deck to 104 (2 years) I figure that if a series stays idle for 2 years it is probably dead or it was not interesting enough for me to go to the trouble of finding and buying the DVD or the individual episodes or using PlayOn to record the series. In any case 2 years seems plenty of time for my On Deck usage.
That setting catches all shows that I record OTA or acquire in other ways and, if I have previously started watching the show, it gets placed on deck just as I want.
I do not think this should be a client setting but, maybe, it could be a per user setting but I am not real sure how that could be implemented without producing a good deal of confusion. I am pretty much happy with the current implementation.

Yeah. Server settings.
SETTINGS → SERVER → LIBRARY.
And you got to unhide advanced options. Cause it’s an advanced setting for what ever reason.
@Elijah_Baley
Good one. 2 years. Yeah, guess Plex hasn’t heard of Netflix and all basic network stations yet . 16 weeks no… doesn’t work…
I like the idea to set to 52 or 104 weeks. Maybe that ought to even be the default.
As to server vs users or client setting, the reason why you need that is that not all of us run our own server. For example, I rely on my son to do all the server management and I just point to his server (yes I know, I’m lazy).

You do make a point. Your son gives you the ability to view his content. That’s where it should stop. You should have the ability to choose how long shared content should be listed on your OnDeck.

It is interesting that we can enable/disable News at the account level, but the even more prominent On Deck experience is primarily managed at the server level. One would hope for a unified end user feature set. Good point.
