Would like to see plex incorporate share play if that’s possible?

Plex supports Watch Together on a variety of playback devices and platforms.
Apple’s SharePlay API definitely looks neat. How would it be an improvement for Plex?

It would allow for a more streamlined operation if you want to be on a FaceTime call while watching something together. I for one would very much appreciate Plex implementing SharePlay (so much so that this is actually my first time posting here xD)!

+1. I use the Watch Together feature on Plex, but I think Share Play with Plex would be a perfect option because I often want to see the other person’s expression while watching.

Definitely would love to see shareplay feature being incorporated into Plex! This would make it awesome! I hope the devs will take this into consideration. I read that the API for shareplay is available for 3rd party developers to take advantage up. Hopefully we’ll be able to test out this future in a future beta of Plex through the testflight app. Would love to see this in all Plex versions, iOS, tvOS, iPadOS, etc.

Agreed - this would be a really great way to use SharePlay - Watch Together has been amazing but this would take it to another level, especially allowing people to interact over FaceTime a lot easier.

If possible, could a Plex employee please comment on whether there’s a chance the feature is even added to the roadmap in the next year or so?

Bump.
I dislike being unable to talk to someone while watching something together on Plex. Yeah I could just do a phone call separately, but then there’s no audio ducking to make it easier to hear what they say.
Of course Plex could just implement voice chat within Watch Together, but I suspect that would be much more labor-intensive than adding the Apple SharePlay API.
As noted in our previous announcement, our existing Watch Together functionality will not be included in our new experience apps on launch, which are currently in preview and will be released broadly in the future.
As such, we’re closing related feature suggestions in order to give back those votes, so that you can vote for something else.
We do not preclude the possibility of offering similar functionality again in the future, as we also noted in our announcement. Should that happen, then feature suggestions like this one and others would certainly be considered during that development.
A new suggestion related to adding Watch Together to our new experience apps has already been raised and you’re welcome to comment or vote on that suggestion.
