Support for Atmos/DTS-HD on new Apple 4K boxes?

Hello!

The new Apple 4K TV boxes support Atmos (and I believe DTS-HD). When will Plex support be arriving for these audio codecs (without requiring transcoding)?

It doesnt. The new ATV supports the same codecs as before. No TrueHD, DTS etc.

Do we know that for sure?

The new Apple TV 4K supports Dolby Atmos, per the product page technical specs.

I can also confirm that my receiver sees Dolby Atmos when watching video through some of the app store apps (ex: Apple TV store). I’m running a Denon AVRS730H.

Please see my more in-depth answer in the thread linked below. A direct answer to your question is the Apple TV does not support Atmos contained in a TrueHD audio codec (which is what just about every Blu-ray with Atmos uses)
