+1 from me. It gets my vote.
All of you should like the first post then. That is how popularity is measured here.

It’s very important to like the first post, but I’ve revised my opinion in the +1 posts. Getting a bump to the top isn’t bad.
I already use Plex for TV shows and Movies and I love it. I store all of my music in Plex but I'm not a fan of the media player yet. With Audiobook support as its own media type and better music playback, I can't think of any media I've got that wouldn't be embedded in Plex :)
+1.
I store my audiobook library on Plex and would love to be able to use the player to listen to an audiobook as I move between my car, my office and jogging. I actually use Plex on my computer at home and at the office to listen to my audiobooks but have resorted to breaking the books into 20 min parts so I don't have to spend so much time hunting for the correct position in a longer track
I'd love this feature too as I love listening to audio books as I read the books themselves.
Meantime, I'm working on a workaround for this by converting the MP3 audiobooks I have into Quicktime .MOV files.
I created a folder on my server PC called "SPOKEN WORD" and a sub-folder for each series of books. Inside each subfolder I created another subfolder with the title of the book itself, and inside that I place the files with a TV-style naming convention. e.g:
SPOKEN WORD
|-A Song of Ice & Fire
| |-Book 1 - A Game of Thrones
| | |-A Song of Ice & Fire - Book 1 A Game of Thrones - S01E01 - Prologue.MOV
| | |-A Song of Ice & Fire - Book 1 A Game of Thrones - S01E02 - Bran I.MOV
| | |-etc...
| |-Book 2 - A Clash of Kings
| | |-A Song of Ice & Fire - Book 2 A Clash of Kings - S02E01 - Prologue.MOV
| | |-A Song of Ice & Fire - Book 2 A Clash of Kings - S02E02 - Arya I.MOV
| | |-etc...
I then created a section in my library using the "TV Shows" media type. I added the SPOKEN WORD folder to that library and set it to use the PERSONAL MEDIA SHOWS agent in the "Advanced Settings" and refreshed that library section.
The result isn't perfect. i add media art to each "Season" manually with a googled cover of the book so each one is easy to identify. Each "episode" only shows as "Episode 1... Episode 2... etc." but the result is that I have audio books I can listen to at home or on the move, pause, and pick up later with the ON DECK feature.
For those concerned about the seemingly MASSIVE task of renaming all those files or converting MP3s to MOV files, there are utilities out there to do it. I use "Any Video Converter (free)" for the file conversion, and "Bulk Rename Utility" for file renaming. Both utilities are free.
Yes, it's a bit of hard work and a pain in the behind, but if you loved audio books as much as I do, then a bit of work to get this to work is not going to break my back. :)

Yes definitely. I'd love to see a library type for longform audio. Audiobooks, podcasts, lectures, etc. All of these could benefit from having the same controls and the different video libraries have.
This could be a very enticing Plex Pass only feature. It seems logical to have a library type for long audio, but generally speaking I'd prefer a server side setting that enables this feature universally rather than relegating it to only a library type. You could even give the user an additional option to set the minimum audio length that this feature would affect.
This is basically the only aspect of my media I can't use Plex for. I almost didn't buy a Lifetime Plex Pass because this wasn't a feature. Hopefully the Plex Dev team can see the added benefit to implementing a feature for audio, as it would add even more incentive for people to Pay for a Plex Pass.
I'd like to add another voice to this, this is one feature that I would love to see!!

please, please, please :)
Shouldn't be so difficult to implement, because of the already existing, brilliant remembering positions for videos in Plex, right ?
Would love this.
I consume my audiobooks on my iPhone so when I'm at my PC I just airplay it to the PC.
