I dont understand why Plex still isn’t offering a proper configuration specifically for Video Classes / Tutorial. I want to use Plex for thousands of video classes, but formatting them as “TV Shows” is simply not doing the trick!
That’s exactly what I mean.
Why having to go through adopting a format that is not designed for (Online)Courses?
No automatic detection, manual renaming etc .etc.
The core feature of Plex is supposed to be its Media Server/Center and facilitating to offer specifically Video-content.
So, why do we not have a basic core features for Video/Online-Courses/Classes?
Its mind boggling…
Let me be clear: Nobody’s saying this feature suggestion doesn’t have its right to exist.
I just wanted to give you a lengthy argument on how this suggestion is vague and (in my opinion) doomed to fall apart the moment it’s getting more specific – e.g. because there’s no central source of metadata for such courses nor an established standard on how to organize your course videos.
Then I came to realize… instead of arguing over it… let’s consider there’s currently exactly 1 vote for this suggestion.
I suggest instead of quibbling over it… how about making an argument on how such a course/tutorial library should be organized to gain some attention and win support of others to vote for it.
side note (and my last comment in this thread on how this can already be organized – I promise):
the currently available basic approach is to organize such videos in an other-video type library using the personal media agent – this will let you organize your files in folders (as you please) and use embedded metadata or file names as titles
