Support for HDR / Dolby Vision on macOS

Are there any plans to add HDR / DV support to the macOS player? Other players seem to have HDR support (even iOS/iPadOS). It’s really a shame to not have HDR on the mac since most of the MacBooks support HDR.

From what I have read in ATV Beta Testing this is coming to Apple TV, this would indicate were possible it will be introduced to all clients.
