To make this fie in the feature request by someone, here is more information about the HiFiBerry:

I see in the supported distributions that OpenElec support it in an experimental build, maybe it is possible to teamup with OpenElec for this or ask HiFiBerry to help you with adding this future in RasPlex?

Starting from linux kernel version 3.10.23 the modules are included. But Rasplex is using OpenElec 3.2.2 with the linux kernel version 3.10.13.
OpenElec has already upgraded to OpenElec 3.2.4 with linux kernel version 3.10.20, this isn't still the linux kernel version 3.10.23 we need. But maybe a start to upgrade RasPlex to OpenElec 3.2.4 and then see if an upgrade to linux kernel version 3.10.23 is possible or don't do an upgrade to OpenElec 3.2.4 and try to only update the linux version to 3.10.23 to be able to support the HiFiBerry.
We wont add driver support as we want to keep in line with OpenElec distributions and as our ressources are limited.
If they would add this driver support to current OpenElec, then RasPlex would benefit from it.
So maybe you can go onto their forum and post a feature request there :)

That is the whole point, it's not a driver that has to be added. But it are modules and they're available when using Linux kernel 3.10.23, which is for the moment not availble in a distribution of OpenElec, only in the beta distribution OpenElec 4.0
Like you can see in the "edit" note...
OpenElec is experimenting with version 4.0 and there is the Linux kernel 3.13 which is newer then the provided minimum Linux kernel for supporting HiFiBerry.

I think it should be possible to upgrade only the linux kernel from 3.10.13 which we are using now towards minimum 3.10.23 which is necessary to support the HiFiBerry, but maybe this isn't possible to do.
I'm a total noob when it comes to the possibility of upgrading the linux kernel on an existing running distribution.
And therefore we maybe should wait until OpenElec release a new stable build where the linux kerel >= 3.10.23, so we can benefit for adding support for the HiFiBerry.
