Hey guys,
By any chance, is PLEX considering supporting non-subscription based services in the future? Such as Amazon & Vudu? I have purchased movies there, and unfortunately they contain DRM. It would be amazing if you’d support Vudu, because their HDX format is far superior than BluRay quality.
I guess a lot of people were like me in thinking that doubling the bit rate and adding DRM didn’t really make the stuff any better or easier to use.
VUDU is out of bidness. Got my farewell notice yesterday (after many years of membership without having actually purchased anything - like a LOT of others I assume).
That wasn’t what I was asking.
I think you’re mistaken Vudu for UltraViolet. Vudu partnered with them. UltraViolet is the one that was discontinued. Not Vudu.
I see.
I have no plans to use them either.
Myself, immediate family, extended family, friends, acquaintances and random people off the street can’t see the difference between a raw MakeMKV Rip and what falls out of the hind-end of my Handbrake at 3750Kbps so a company that artificially inflates bit rates and adds copy protection isn’t likely to garner any support here at least.
Considering Plex doesn’t work with DRM, period, guess you’ll be sticking with whatever it is you’re watching that stuff on now.
No, I did not. When I mention “SUPPORT,” I’ve made a reasonable assumption that people understand I mean licensing a long with that. DRM is not just an “incompatible format,” it’s licensing rights.
It really depends on how it’s made, and sometimes even your TV. On the other hand, regardless of what MKV profiles used, a good 10GB file will usually give you damn good quality in general. At that point, it really doesn’t make a difference. But their are a lot of idiots who try to pass a 200MB file and say 1080p HD quality. “Yeah, it’s the same thing.” Arrrrg
Honestly I don’t use Vudu like that anymore. These days I just use them for the trailers, and see what’s out. Those commercials are intolerable sometimes. Especially when they play the same commercial 18x in a row. LOL
Wait… commercials?
Oh, my… is that a death knell, or a dinner bell?
(I think the former)
