Support Hauppauge Colossus 2

PLex Devs,

Kindly, support Hauppauge Colossus 2 so we could benefit from the HDMI input on these cards. It’s was a joyful day when I saw PLEX started to support tuner cards, what’s missing on the Hauppauge QuadHD tuners is the input signal…

Hauppauge Colossus 2 will open a window to allow PLEX DVR to expand it capabilities while supporting the HDMI Input which will allow us to stream and record from STBs or any console device. Thus, the colossus 2 has and Input/Output IR blaster to control the STBs.
Please consider adding the Colossus 2 to PLEX.

Regards,

I’ve already requested support for the full line of Hauppauge capture products (Hauppauge HD PVR units and Colossus cards) .

Unfortunately the answer was “No”.

You can try installing the Hauppauge Windows Media Center beta support package which was designed to allow these Hauppauge products to work with Media Center by being seen as a supported tuner. This might allow Plex DVR to see your Colossus 2 card as a tuner but it is a bit of a long-shot.

You can also try the DVBLink for Hauppauge Colosus software package that serves the same purpose and IMO did a better job then the Hauppauge beta software. It might be difficult to find however.

@Octavean

I’m glad you did, but the answer was unpleasant at all. I know PLEX developers are overloaded trying to support the tuner lines, adding support to multiple platforms…
But, supporting capture cards will add more features to PLEX DVR, we always had a way to output our data by streaming it, we had no input signal to the DVR… Adding tuners that’s a huge jump forward, furthermore if they add the capture cards it will be phenomenal leap into the future in PMS.
