kinoCharlino about Incompatible Devices List

The few first device I agree there no point in support the Ceton as there RIP any way and as for EyeTV Netstream 4c/sat, Elgato has been moving away from TV tuner market and has been focusing on Studio Media Steaming / Gaming Capture Steaming and Home automation.

Generic Capture Devices – These are devices which are designed to “capture” the output and have been used in setups to interface
with a set-top device in accordance with an IR Blaster. Unfortunately, because they lack BDA or DVB support, Plex will not be
supporting these devices.

You do know that TBS Technologies now has a BDA architecture compatible Video Capture Card TBS6301 and that doesn’t count there IPTV encoder device that support HTTP/RTSP/RTP/RTMP/UDP protocols HD Video Encoder like the TBS2601, TBS2603 and there are min other brands of IPTV HDMI encoder device that can be use to for low $110+S/H from aliexpress.com

Satellite – Currently we do not have Satellite support. It’s something we are investigating, but there are some issues we will need to
overcome, so likely you will run into issues with Satellite.

You would only need to support at lease one Capture Devices and IR Blaster like a USB-UIRT (1 front + 2 port tune) or CommandIR III (4 port tune) + there Expandable Kit which add 12 more IR Blaster for of 16 tuner, And both are support in Linux and Windows.
The only sad parts is CommandIR in no longer selling and shipping to USA

Oh I all forgot to add with DirecTV STB via ethernet by IP control channels change HR20, HR21, HR22, HR23, HR24, HR34, HR44, HR54, HS17, H21, H23, H24, H25 C31, C41, C51, C61 Genie Clients THR-22 by running custom exe to make calls commands to -ip -channel .
Supposedly the same can be done with Dish network on Hopper, Hopper 3, Joey 1.0, 2.0, SuperJoey, Joey 4K but I haven’t found and API doc’s on it

It was my understanding that the Hauppauge HD PVR and Colossus were made functional in Microsoft Media Center using two different methods. The DVBLink software allowed Media Center to view these capture devices as DVB-T tuners. The Hauppauge Beta Media Center software allowed Media Center to see them as CableCard tuners.

I don’t see why Plex couldn’t do the same thing but I do understand that there is no appetite to pursue this. Much the same way as there was no appetite to pursue a traditional full guide grid for Plex DVR.

One can only hope that they have a change of heart. Especially so when they are essentially quasi asserting it can’t be done when there are examples of it being done in the past.

That Octavean true that had to do with AVC/H264 which DVB all ready had but the software had one small problem it wouldn’t allow you more then one HD-PVR with Hauppauge Plug-in nor DVBLink and EPG wouldn’t work with Satellite EPG I spent min months working with Hauppauge on that problem we final end up give up.
But I could be wrong it but doesn’t look like they support analog capture device any more let lone USA ATSC.

Right, the DVBLink for Hauppauge HD PVR / Colossus is now abandonwear. A key was required to use the software whether you had a license or not (a trial key would be issued upon request) but now that it is defunct there is no way to authenticate.

The software worked fairly well though. It presumably allowed up to 4 Hauppauge HD PVR units but going beyond two would likely be problematic.

It is worth pointing out that while these Hauppauge capture devices did indeed work in Microsoft Media Center (Windows 7 and up as well as quasi Fiji update which brought H.264 support) it was a third-party that made it possible (DVBLink and Hauppauge themselves). Clearly Microsoft had no interest in implementing a system that would sidestep their Playready scheme and I understand that Plex wouldn’t want undue attention in this respect.

So one would think that if this were to ever happen with Plex DVR, it would likely be due to an industrious third-party.

It’s difficult to gauge the demand for such a thing but the issues of some users not being able to effectively use CableCard with Plex DVR due to DRM is noteworthy.

Hauppauge supports the HD PVR and Colossus line in their WinTV 8 software but when asked had no interest in developing support for them in Plex. So a third-party interested in selling a software solution (like DVBLink) looks like the only option (beyond a capable group of dedicated and selfless coders fighting the good fight).

That why SageTV won over MCE min of us had as min as 8 HD-PVR tuner running, I had 4 on Sat box and 4 Cable box but that was long time ago that didn’t cost arm and leg like it dose now.
No one going to get CableCard DRM support I can guarantee you that Cable Labs is never ever going to approve it so only MCE that it.
Why think there only a few PC TV tuner manufactures left Hauppauge and TBS and SiliconDust that is it and everything else is just old new stock.

That why we need to push IPTV capture device support as it make it easy for them to add in support unlike the traditional directshow filter
