[Support] Help! The Audio of any media I play is too low

Now I think I’ve narrowed it down. My specific issue is that I do not currently have an alternative to increase the audio of whatever media I’m playing, or increase the playback of the audio stream from the media file. Either way, it’s too low.

  • It’s not my headphones, or speakers. I’ve used separate devices and they are all too low.
  • It’s not my system settings. All the audio playback for other programs and media like YouTube, Netflix, Discord and the like are all fine and usually require me to actually lower them.
  • It’s not my Plex app settings. I have a single audio stream, the audio from the file on my PC is fine too (if played through say VLC). The Multi-Channel Audio Boost is “Huge”
  • It’s not Google Chrome settings. All other audio is fine, again often requiring me to lower them.

I’ve had to download a chrome extension to boost the audio when I’m playing through Plex which has the unfortunate side effect of causing feedback and audio spiking issues when the audio from Plex is too loud (loud and sharp noises or screaming will peak the audio).

It’s been like this for months, probably since I’ve started using Plex. Is there another solution for my audio problem? Is there no hope for me? :frowning:

This sounds like Plex is trying to play the file with multi-channel sound, which is why it seems low. Depending on your client (Roku, Firestick, Apple TV, etc), you need to go into the settings of the app and select stereo unless you have a surround sound/multi-speaker setup.

I’m using the web player on Chrome. The only multi-channel audio option is a boost.

Edit: I was wrong! Here is the option that helped me. image

The weird part is that I do not use Chromecast, it’s just playing on my regular browser window.
