Support Lossless Plex Web Audio Playback (ALAC, FLAC) Powered by Existing Decoders

As a user, it would be amazing to be able to use the Plex Web App to play uncompressed, non-transcoded FLAC and ALAC audio files.

It looks like the Plex team has their work cut out for them, as two Javascript libraries have been developed to enable this across all major browsers:

For sure this needs to be a must. :-) Flac, Ogg vorbis and Alac files.

I mean direct play is there.

It really shouldn't be too hard to support this with the existing libraries. Thrilled to see what the Plex devs come up with!

That would be great :D

Definitely need FLAC support.   Lost my previous rips during NAS rebuild and am now ripping to FLAC.  The quality is so much better.

Has Plex quietly added "Direct Play" support for FLAC files? I've seen this by chance today, it's a newly added FLAC file that played back without transcoding from Plex Web apparently:

+1 for supporting FLAC on iOS … particularly with locally synced content.

Soon Firefox will support FLAC native:

Please, think of both ways: ALAC to FLAC and FLAC to ALAC. But ALAC to FLAC preferred since my library is stored mostly in ALAC and I have an Android phone.

Wow, there are a whole bunch of requests for this type of feature. Now the Chrome browser supports FLAC. Isn’t it time? Please.

Firefox got also FLAC support (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/51.0/releasenotes/).

FLAC to ALAC in iOS client?

Yes Firefox and Chrome got FLAC support!

Since iOS 11 supports native FLAC playback please add this feature to iOS app!

Need WAV support as well…so we don’t have to compress music files to use PLEX
