I’m happy you support Intel’s transcode engine, and I’ve read somewhere you’re working on adding AMD’s soon (working in development environment). Can we expect work to start on supporting NVIDIA’s hardware acceleration too? Not all cards have it, but many do and it feels like a waste to not be able to utilize the hardware.
Personally I have 2 x 1080ti cards.
Encoding is already currently supported. There’s a feature request for decode support on linux. I believe it’s already present on Windows. Hardware Accelerated Decode (Nvidia) for Linux
Yep, saw that post. It only mentions Intel’s option, hence my feature request.
“Plex Media Server’s hardware acceleration uses Intel Quick Sync Video for decoding and encoding, which is available in all recent Intel Core processors as well as some other Intel processors (such as some Xeon, Atom, or Celeron models).”
Though I hadn’t done a search for “NVIDIA”. Just did and it looks like installing another video card might disable that Intel feature even!?!?

Doh! I kept looking further down the page and see it now. Sorry. Maybe the documentation can be updated to make it clearer what all the possible options are.
