I use a program called SVP 4 to artificially increase framerate using interpolation, this works really well for animated media in particular. Increasing the framerate from 24 to 60 (or even 144 if your monitor’s refresh rate supports it) makes it much smoother, and creates what people call the soap opera effect. I’m not sure if the soap opera effect works in exactly the same way, but it comes out looking very similar. To get to the point, I was wondering if there would be any way to use the framerate interpolation in SVP 4 with plex? I’m not sure how plex works under the hood, but since it uses a computer as a server to stream to other devices, it should be possible to use SVP 4 on that same server. I’m not sure if there would be licensing issues, but it doesn’t have to be an official feature, an unofficial workaround would work just fine for me. It would be a really cool addition to plex.
