Sync issue: PMS becomes unresponsive when a sync task starts

Server Version: 1.14.0.5470
Player Version#: Doesn’t seem to matter, the issue happens with android and iOS sync tasks.
DSM Version: 6.2.1-23824 Update 1
Plex Media Server Logs_2018-12-11_16-20-05.zip (4.4 MB)

I’ve noticed an issue every time someone tries to sync items from my server, PMS becomes unresponsive for a while and then comes back after a while.
Sync tasks seem to complete but the issue can happen several times before a sync completes.

Thanks for your help !

looks like the harddrive/raid is to busy so it can’t read and trans code at the same time.

What server are you running ? os and hardware details please.

Sorry for not including hardware information:

DS3617xs (INTEL Xeon D-1527), 16GB DDR4 ECC SO-DIMM. The disks are all ironwolf 10 to (the unit is not full) and there is a SSD cache (read-only).

I’ve included a screenshot of the resource monitor when PMS becomes unresponsive:

Also I previously add this bug: PMS Crash due to sync tasks?

RAM is used by docker mostly.

Ok so I’ll lose all my metadata, correct ?
I’m reluctant to do it because I’ve made a lot of manual edits.
Is there a way to not lose that ?

Plex media server runs as a native app.

haha no problem about docker. I’ve find it to be more convenient because:

  • There isn’t a Synology package available for everything.

  • I don’t have to worry about every DSM update breaking packages compatibility.

  • linuxserver.io docker images are easy to install, even for the average user like me.

About manual edits. Not everything is on public databases. For example album covers.
I also sometimes want certain items in another language. In my case it’s easier to recognise certain films with their french title instead of the english one.

Thanks again for the advices, I’ll post again with debug enabled, maybe that will help.

Ok, is it possible that the problem is related to something else entirely ?
Sync maybe ?
I don’t want to sound rude but recreating my libraries is going to take me weeks if not more, so better be certain before recreating them.

I tried repairing the database, sync seems to work fine at first, and the more tasks are added, the more PMS starts to “hang” again.

Feel free to close the discussion. I don’t have the time to delete the database and create a new one unfortunately.

Thanks again for the help.
