I’m trying to synch my libraries. There are only mkv-files but some can be read and some cant. Can anyone explain me why that is?
Would you mind to elaborate a bit?
I’m not exactly sure what you’re trying to achieve – I guess you’re not referring to syncing the content of your library to a mobile device?!
If this is about Plex not recognizing some of the content in your file system… common caveats are:
- Permissions → does the service account used by Plex (default:
plex
) have permission to see the missing files? - Bad naming
- Plex will e.g. ignore items in a movie library that are named like a tv-show file
- They might have been added but are mismatched as a different movie (e.g. one you don’t even have in your library or as a different version of an existing item) → you can filter your library for duplicates to find mismatched items that are associated/linked to another movie
Just trying to get the items add in the libraries. But for some reason 2 of 130 files can be seen in that folder.
Have you organized and named your files as per the naming schema in the Plex documentation?
I take it this is actually video files – not disc images / ISO / … formats?
Does the plex
service account used by your server have permission to see all those 130 files?

Maybe you can share an example of the files that are not recognized.
This is the foder-structure. some of the folders have data inside, others don’t. But why can I see everything in Emby but not with Plex?
I can only guess that those missing shows are named in a way that Plex isn’t recognizing as tv-show files. I cannot confirm based on only their top-level folders. Some of them might cause hiccups when matching your shows… but we’re still at the getting-them-into-Plex stage
There are spaces missing.
There is no TV Show named “Bugs Bunny” either.
so you say when I change it to (for example) Bugs Bunny, it should be seen? I’ve named it BugsBunny because when you delete it in terminal Ubunutu it’s easier
The title of the folder is very important in Plex. It must be exactly like the show has been listed either on Thetvdb.com or TheMovieDB.org.
There is no TV show listed on either website with the title “Bugs Bunny”. There is “The Bugs Bunny Show” or the “The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show”.
But both of these are actually subsets of the “real” show “Looney Tunes”.
But only getting the folder names right is not sufficient. Again, the link to “da rules”: Naming and Organizing Your TV Show Files | Plex Support
