Have about 200 movies in a folder, and Plex is only finding about 190 of them.
If I move the movies that do not show up into a different folder (using Windows Explorer), and rescan library files, Plex finds them in the new folder.
Have tried to use the following, but these has not helped.
Refresh Metadata
Fix Match
Have looked at the permissions for these files, and they appear to be the same as the movies that do show up in the proper folders.
File names are similar (movie 1 and movie 2 etc). File names/folders are not too long, some of the movies that show up have longer file names in the same folder.
What is strange, is that if I move the movie from one shared folder (Movies New) to another shared folder (Movies Old), it will show up and play in the second folder.
Might have 5 movies in a folder (like Fast and the Furious) and 3 or 4 will show up in the folder listing, and the other ones are not to be found… Until I move them to a different folder. All 5 movies have the same extension (mkv).
If there was an issue with the file name or permissions, why would they show up in the second folder, but not the first folder?
The second folders name is the same length or shorter than the first folder, so its not an issue with the length of the path/filename.
Activate the Duplicates filter. You may probably find that the missing files have been added as duplicate files to an existing movie.
That can happen if the file names are very close to an existing title, or the (year) part is missing (or wrong).
Just a tip for you…folder naming is critical to correct identification of the movies. I had these issues before I started following the IMDB naming convention and using the IMDB movie number in the movie name. Here is an example of my movie naming and it works every single time.
Folder: 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) {imdb-tt0322259}
File in Folder: 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) {imdb-tt0322259} {edition-4K}
I use the edition tag for my media library use, it is not necessary.
