Sync of Series vs Show

I was syncing a specific season of a show and then decided to sync all unwatched episodes of the show regardless the season. After beginning to sync the show instead of the specific season (files were already downloaded), Plex then deleted the already synced episodes that match the same criteria. This seems like a bad logic issue in the application. It is doing double-work instead of keeping those files and downloading any that don’t match the existing with the new logic.

Sync is an all or nothing proposition. If you tell it to sync a season, then stop and remove that sync job, files associated with that job get removed since it didn’t finish. If you had let it finish, then created a second job, it would not redownload the already existing ones, then deleting the season would would retain those that matched the show job.

I did exactly that.

  1. Sync season one of show (3 max, unwatched) - All these are now synced
  2. Decide to sync entire show (3 max, unwatched)
  3. Delete sync of season one, Plex deletes episodes that were synced and Plex starts re-syncing the entire show episodes that were already on my device.
