Plex Sync - Sync Path is Unavailable

Hello,

over the past few months I have started seeing issues with my plex syncing.  The way I've always had it set up is to go into each of my shows and have it sync the last 3 unwatched episodes of that show.

I also have an automatic scheduled task to delete episodes watched more than 5 days ago and that do not appear on the on deck list.

If the end of a season comes and all the episodes of a show are deleted, the next sync will begin to give me problems.  Even though I can see in the activity section that only 1 show has the error symbol, the entire sync fails saying Errors occured.  When I drill into my sync list, it's complaining about the show I just deleted.

My preferred method would be to have a list of all my shows that I want to sync, and have plex go through each one ignoring any that don't happen to exist at that moment in time.  We all know it will be back next season, and syncing should start at that point.

Plex Media Server 0.9.11.17.986

Plex IOS Client - Purchased

Plexpass Lifetime

I've tried multiple things so far, all with the same results:

1. Disable Scheduled task and delete show manually and/or through plex

2. Disable Nightly Library Cleanup within plex under "Scheduled Tasks"

3. Delete the show, then allow the next episode to be added after getting the error. Functionality is not restored

The only way for me to get full relief is to stop syncing the show, which requires me to remember to re-sync it when the next episiode airs (which clearly never happens :P).

I was able to partially workaround the program by quickly starting, stopping, then starting the sync process. The IOS client hangs for about 10 seconds, looks like it isn't syncing, then syncs...sometimes....partially...regardless, it still ends up missing shows and throwing the error.

I'd like to see plex handle this differently. Can it be made to ignore shows it cannot find? What piece of identifying information is missing that even readding the show after getting the error would fail?

Is there something I should be doing to avoid this issue? It's not spoken of very widely.

Thanks in advance!

I have this issue as well. You are correct that if a show no longer has episodes to sync (in my case they are no longer even in Plex - files are deleted). The sync will get an error and other shows that SHOULD be syncing do not sync correctly.   This is not a new behavior. I have experienced over at least the last two IOS client releases.

I have the same experience - has anyone worked out a solution?

I’m experiencing this as well - once the last show has been deleted from the server, when a new episode is deposited, it will not sync automatically. The entry for the show on the Sync status screen for the device shows as error “The sync path is unavailable”.

If I resync either just the new episode, or add a new Dynamic sync schedule for the same show, it creates a new entry in the screen that shows sync’d content for the device. Nothing affects the old entry with the error.

This happens for any show - I have 4 orphaned entries on the Sync status screen for shows that I finished watching and deleted at some point.
