Sync to devices without transcoding

Yesterday I bought PremPass so I could sync series and movies to my phone, but today I found out that due to Plex NEEDING to encode everything before it can sync, I am not able to sync to devices since my Synology DS213 does not seem to be able to transcode.

Since I am able to stream everything just fine without transcoding, I do not understand why transcoding is a MUST since it seems to be working without it just fine.

Therefore I'd like to be able to sync movies/series without transcoding. Because the way it is now, I can't use the feature that made me buy PremPass.

put it on "Highest quality" and if the media is compatible according the the device profile it will not transcode before sync.

( if your media is an MKV with DTS audio which most phones cannot play with native player it will need to transcode)

Thanks for the reply, I tried it but it didn't work.

Even though my phone does support the media (quality and audio and such)

The topic has been discussed in the sync section.

It is due to the compatibility check, usually fails because it does not accept anamorphic encoding, which is a true pity as most devices handle it perfectly well, as you stated!

Well why not add an option "Direct copy" then without any transcoding? That would work, right?

2022 clean-up: implemented (new download mode has an option to prefer original version)
