I never opted in to syncing my watch state and ratings with Plex, and when I got the popup about the new Discover Together feature, I set my privacy settings accordingly.
Now when I look at my watch history in Discover Together, it shows me everything I’ve ever watched from my Plex server, as well as everything new I’ve watched.
Where is this information coming from? Is this coming from my PMS server and being shared only with me, or is this being synced via Plex some how?
How do I turn this off for me? How do I turn it off for all users of my server?
I understand that the server has to track watched status, but it doesn’t need to snitch on everyone constantly.
Well I just went through my settings again and found that sync was somehow enabled.
I’m really surprised how this has happened, as I don’t remember enabling this, and am pretty privacy conscious as a rule.
How do I go about getting that data deleted from Plex’s servers now, after the fact? Do I have to manually go through and delete everything from my activity history? Does that actually delete anything?
Currently yes (and if you’ve disabled sync you’d have to add the items to a watchlist and remove the watched status that way), but they are apparently working on a process to delete it all in one go.
