I recently installed Plex on a new server since my hard drive gave up in the last one (ofc did not have a backup for library’s and watched status) but apparently all managed accounts was still there when I logged on.
So my suggestion is that also watched state should be backed up in the account (I guess it’s not that much data for only watch status) so when you start new server you log in add all library’s you want and then sync the watched status.
This should not be server specific or anything it should only save episode xx on serie yy is watchedwatch
Many of us don’t want Plex storing what is on our servers. Many people achieve what you’re suggesting via Trakt. It’s harder with Plex now but apparently still possible. Search the forums for more information.
Watched status is saved in your PMS database, which can be set to automatically backup. You can back it up to somewhere other than your main drives, like a usb drive or a cloud drive if you have that setup yourself.
The problem is if I want to only restore the watched status. How do I go about that? I want to clear out all other meta data pulled and stored by plex but then have the watched status restored.
