Hi,
I currently use Kodi but am looking to give Plex a run instead.
One of the features I use in Kodi is Trakt.tv, so in a worse-case -scenario and my library/Kodi install goes belly-up, and can re-install Kodi, add the Trakt.tv addon & get all my TV Show/Movie progress back to how it was.
I’m looking at using the Nvidia Shield to be my server, but understand that Trakt therefore can’t be installed on that device.
Is there anything that I can do to backup my current view status so I would have to manually spend hours trying to figure out where I was up to in various movies/TV Shows? (It would also be useful if the watched status was sync’d between different clients - ie Shield Box, Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV, iPad etc)
Thanks.
View state is saved in the database. In general this is what you need to do to do that. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201154527-Move-Viewstate-Ratings-from-One-Install-to-Another
However like the channel location such as trakt the database location on the shield is not user accessible. We do hope to have the ability to install channels like trakt in the future but don’t have an ETA on that
Thanks for your input.
So are you saying, for now, I would have no way at all of restoring my current watched list if my system were to crash?
If you are using a Nvidia shield then that is correct.
Ok, well, that’s me done for now then. I’ll keep an eye out to see if anything changes. Thanks again.
There is a GitHub project attempting to fill this oversight.
It basically allows you to copy watched states from one plex server to another plex server and was designed with the Shield in mind.
