What was the idea behind killing the “Synch” media feature in favor of “Download” - “Download” appears to be almost exactly the same thing only not as good - Synch sorted media into categories, Download does not and with Synch you could look at your saved media and choose something to play - with “Download” you can’t - you have to go find the same item in the regular menu and play it from there. It also sometimes takes a few minutes for the Download menu to load so you can see what you’ve saved. It’s like someone said “Let’s do the exact same thing, but make it less organized and functional”.
Also, when I left the house, the Downloaded files all vanished. They were still there, they were taking up memory, but did not show up in the download menu and would not play away from home.
The Downloads “feature” is also locked behind the Plex Pass paywall for your shared users even if the server account has a Lifetime pass. This was not the case with the sync feature. Even if you purchased said Lifetime pass thinking this feature would forever be available to you, that is no longer the case. It’s true the feature will be grandfathered for those specific shared users that have used sync in the past but if any new user is shared to your server they will need to have their own Plex pass subscription to use the download feature.
Also if you unshare your server with a user that used it, the next time you share your server with them, they will need a Plex pass subscription to use the download feature on your server. It really just seems like a rebranding to a feature to perform a cash grab by forcing users to pay for for something “new”. Even though this feature was already riddled with bugs and issues that users complained about for years and was long overdue an actual upgrade that improved it.
Perhaps a Plex employee could logically rebuttal this with any actual facts but I doubt they will.
Additionally when using Sync it was possible to choose “All unwatched episodes” and when an episode was watched it would be removed from synced items. This feature is also unavailable and now it’s all or a fixed amount of episodes.
The Download feature is not an upgrade! It is most certainly a lesser and disappointing downgrade!!! 
If you can’t give it at least the same functionality, let us keep the sync!!!
