Server Version#:Synology DSM 6.2.1-23824 (model=DS415play&update_version=23824-6))
Player Version#:PlexMediaServer-1.14.1.5488-cc260c476-x86.spk
Plex fails to run on my Synology DS415 Play (Running 6.2.1-23824). I have used the appropriate Plex version (1.14.1.5488-cc260c476-x86.spk) however this still isnt working.
99% of my reason for running a NAS is so that i can use plex.
Looking for suggestions please.
Thanks trumpy81.
The Synology 415 play requires the older version that I have installed manually, however it’s still not working.
It still didnt work. Im getting the message “failed to run”.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
I would like to ask you to manually go into the DiskStation and attempt to start it.
DSM logs don’t tell us what we need to find out.
Get Putty if you’re using a Windows computer or we can use ssh on a linux or Mac machine
Control Panel - Terminal & SNMP - enable SSH
Using Putty / ssh , connect to the IP of the Syno as user admin
Sign in using the admin password
When at the command line, type sudo -su root enter admin password again
The prompt will change to #
cd "/var/packages/Plex Media Server/scripts"
./start-stop-status start
It will print output
please copy and paste that output in the reply window here for me to see.
Thank you very much for your help.
Actually i cant very far as im seeing this message -
Your account has expired; please contact your system administrator
That is the login message.
Control Panel - Users
Enable the Admin user
Assign it a secure password YOU know.
So it doesn’t appear to start…
What was the text printed out? I need to know that info as I requested in my instructions above.
The command line didn’t print any output. Just went to a # prompt.
Nothing?
sh-4.3#
sh-4.3# ./start-stop-status stop
Stopping Plex ...
sh-4.3# ./start-stop-status start
Starting Plex ...
sh-4.3#
Correct nothing happened. Plex didn’t start. After a long pause i just got the sh-44.3# prompt
