I have been considering the DS1522+ for my network primarily for attached storage for my mac mini m2 pro. I currently run plex media server with an 8TB HDD attached to the mac via usb enclosure.
I know the 1522+ uses an AMD microprocessor which doesn’t not have a built in GPU (unlike say the 920+ with intel cpu).
Since my mac mni m2 pro will be runnign 24/7 anyways, how well would plex media server run on it, accessing the files on the 1522+ instead of locally from USB? Would it be reliable? Or should I be runnign the plex media server on the 1522+ ? The Mac Mini M2 Pro does a great job transcoding.
I also use it as a DVR and I think it records the TV shows to the local built in SSD first and then transfers it later to the destination after recorded. Is it okay if the TV Shows as well as Movies are on the NAS instead of local? I relaly do want to run the Plex Media Server on my Mac Mini m2 pro because I know it’s very capable and fast at transcoding.
