I have been having an issue for a while now, but I waited a few months to see if this issue disappeared with an update, but it still persists.

I have a Synology DS218+, compatible, that has been working fine as a Plex Server for quite a while. Suddenly, the problem with the Apollo lake arise and I had some issues until @chrisallen shared a beta that solved the problem. Now, I am running the latest PMS release.

Since about that time, though, I had two issues that might be related. The first one is that sometimes, when playing video on my Smart TV, it buffers a lot. It never used to stop a movie or a TV show in the middle to buffer, and if it did, it was an odd occasion where it stopped for 10-20 seconds and that was it. But again, that happened once every 3-4 months? Now, it happens quite a lot.

I have checked the logs, trying to find the old “speed” line, without any luck, meaning most likely, it happens with Direct Play, but I am not entirely sure.

Another thing, that happens quite often is when I am streaming with an iOS device using 4G/3G, the video suddenly goes back 3-4 minutes and replays what I have already watched but the subtitles don’t go back, they continue, desyncing from the video.

I don’t know if this gives you a clue but if I try to play them with VLC, connecting remotely to the server the video plays fine.

I’m happy to provide logs, just thought maybe it was something easy or a known issue (although I couldn’t find anything similar on the forums).

You seem to be describing application problems.

When you say “DirectPlay”, then there is no server involvement except to send the video file (without alteration) to the playing device. You would only see a “Speed” line if it were transcoding which it is not when DirectPlaying.

May I see a log ZIP file please (DEBUG ON, VERBOSE OFF) which captures this happening?

Thank you for having a look at it.
So far, I have managed to reproduce one of the issues, the one were the video rewinds itself and the subtitles keep on going.

It happened yesterday, 26th March just before 6:30pm.

I have not been able to test the TV, as soon as I have some time I will upload another log.

Where does the problem begin in the video sequence? Early on or late?

If it’s early on, would it be possible to get a sample with the subtitles ?
I ask because I’m not seeing any obvious indications in the logs.
